Those who post on the Bethesda forums have been notified via email that a “potential breach” of the user database occurred during the morning of August 12.
According to mail, the firm has rest forum passwords as a precautionary measure “in the event that any encrypted forum user passwords were compromised.”
“When you next try to login to the forums, your old password will not work,” reads the mail. “Click the ‘I’ve forgotten my password link’ underneath the login boxes, and follow the steps to setup a new password for your account.
“We recommend you do not use your old password or a password you have used for other sites. Further, if your old forum password was used for any other online purposes, we recommend changing the password on those accounts as well.”
Bethesda said if you have any questions or concerns, contact the firm through here.
This is the second time Bethesda’s user data has potentially been compromised via its websites and forums. Back in June, sites linking to Brink where hacked, but no financial or credit card information was obtained in the attack.
Thanks, DSB.
