Overkill has promised to deliver a couple of features noted pre-release but absent from the launch day version of Payday 2.
In a post on Steam, Overkill’s Almir Listo addressed complaints that certain features are missing from the full release of Payday 2 that beta testers had believed would be present in the full game.
“We will add safehouse customization. There are many things we would love to add, but we haven’t had time yet. I’m sorry if you expected a ton of customization at release,” the developer said.
“The Cloakers have been made. We made the difficult decision of cutting them for release because they simply weren’t performing their duty as a baton wielding menace.
“Does this mean we will sell them later as a $10 DLC? No, it of course does not. We will add them as soon as we are comfortable with the quality, as we have with anything we’ve made. I hope that this time, you trust us to deliver, as we have many times before.”
Safehouse customisation was mentioned in the tutorial section of the Payday 2 beta as well as in a developer diary, while Cloakers were present in the beta but were removed from more recent builds.
As well as ongoing support, the features mentioned above and presumably others not detailed at present, Overkill has committed to a year-long schedule of DLC. Payday 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation3 and Xbox 360.
